Interns in Kenya work primarily in rural settings and provide support to the community and its leaders. The interns also learn about the rich cultures of Kenya while sharing their own gifts, experiences, and insights. SOTENI’s goal is to enable interns to be AIDS-prevention advocates in both Kenya and their home countries.
In the Cincinnati office, assignments might include organizing special events, creating publicity materials, updating the website, writing proposals, assisting with fund-raising campaigns, refining donor lists, and completing clerical tasks.
We need many volunteers to operate our Thrift Store as it is the major source of revenue to fund all of our animal rescue efforts. Bringing in donations to price and sell in the store, running the register, sorting donations and organizing displays are our primary needs.
Long term, we are also looking to recruit teams for fundraising and presentations, offsite adoption events and people with special skills for advertising, etc.
We are always in need of more fosters. Since we don’t have a physical shelter, we rely on foster homes to house our adoptable animals.
Adopt a Shaker building through volunteer labor. Volunteers assist in maintenance and restoration of the building.
Join Western Shaker Singers. A group of singers dedicated to keeping original Shaker music alive.
Assist in educating the public about the Village through lectures, displays or in-school programs for children.
Show off your skills while helping a good cause. If you don’t have any then we’ll teach you. There is a need for electricians, people skilled in the construction trades, gardeners, educators, and people with experience in public relations.
Serve on a team researching the history of the White Water Shakers. Help us locate manuscripts, photos, and artifacts for our Shaker museum.
