Assist the site manager with press releases, neighborhood or targeted publicity, management of our website and social media accounts.
Maintain a clean and welcoming museum environment by assisting with sweeping, dusting, tidying and fixing. General handy-person skills will be utilized in a number of specific projects. Grounds maintenance may include planting, weeding, watering, picking up trash and sweeping.
Set-up, tear-down, AV equipment needs and refreshments for specific events, lectures or book discussions.
Perform clerical functions to assist the site manager. This may include database management, data entry, help with mailings, etc. It could also include inventory management for bookstore items.
Conduct research on your choice of topics related to the Friends of Harriet Beecher Stowe House. Research can be used to develop programs, lectures and tours and can provide additional resources for visitors and volunteers.
Familiarize yourself with the content of the house and share that information with visitors. Answer questions, lead tours and welcome guests. Tours can last up to forty-five minutes and should include time for questions. You can choose to portray historical figures in costume. Feel free to make the presentation your own!
Conduct transactions for admissions and store items, re-stock shelves and maintain cash drawer. It could include inventory management for bookstore items. Familiarize yourself with the products offered and with Harriet’s life and times.
Assist with special event planning and promotion.
Help deliver the vegetables to those in need. Three of the community gardens are located in Mt. Auburn and our main garden is located behind our building.
