Committee Member – Fundraising

Our board
PositionThe Development (Fundraising) Committee is a standing committee of the Board of Directors and is chaired by an appointed Director.  The Committee is responsible for the oversight of the annual fundraising plan and tracks the planned vs. actual results during the year.  The Committee encourages, trains and acknowledges other Board members for their involvement in the fundraising activities.  The Committee explores potential, new fundraising activities as part of the strategic planning process.Committee Member Role1. Oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive Fundraising Plan2.  Identifies and solicits funds from external sources of support3. Identifies and maintain a list of potential sponsors/donors4. Plans and coordinates major fundraising events5. Explores potential, new fundraising activities as part of the strategic planning process6. Monitor fundraising efforts to be sure that ethical practices are in place, that donors are acknowledged appropriately and that fundraising efforts are cost-effective7. Increases the interest in the core mission and vision of Mercy Neighborhood Ministries8.Provide support to staff as neededMembers include Directors and other persons whose expertise and interests are valuable and pertinent to the work of the Committee.  The Executive Director is an ex-officio member of the Committee.  Committee members should have one or more of the following qualifications: fundraising and donor relations (experience with charitable fundraising; generating and cultivating donor relationships), strategic planning (expertise in linking fundraising with an organization’s strategic and marketing plans); positive relationships with the media and potential donors within and outside the community, special events planning.
