Our boardDo you have a passion for working with children? Are you looking to make a difference in your community?  Our mission is simple: To give families throughout Clermont County safety resources through outreach, trainings, and events. One of the major projects that the organization will be undertaking will be creating a free standing, child-sized, interactive Safety Village for all children, families, and community members who reside in Clermont County. PositionThe Finance Committee is a standing committee with goals of providing financial oversight of Caution for Kids and provides advice and counsel to the Board of Directors on financial matters. The committee propose the annual budget to the Board and consults on strategic issues with financial implications.Membership of the Finance Committee is reviewed by the President. The Finance Director, Committee Members will work together to determine committee needs and will brainstorm new and potential committee members.

RequirementsDuties of all Caution for Kids of Clermont County Board Members:Board members are expected to be fully informed on organizational matters, to contribute to debate on issues and to contribute to the Board’s policy deliberations. They are expected to understand and support Caution for Kids of Clermont County’s mission statement and strategic plan.Board member duties include the following:
  • Attend meetings and show commitment to Board activities.
  • Be well informed on issues and agenda items in advance to meetings.
  • Participate on one or more committees or in an ad hoc manner as requested by the Board President or Vice President.
  • Monitor public response to the work and policies of the Organization.
  • Participate in Board orientation meetings to ensure organizational and fund development knowledge and to participate in volunteer and donor recognition events.
  • Provide candid, open, and honest feedback and evaluation when appropriate.
  • Take initiative in informing the organization about opportunities for funding or program development.
  • Identify individuals in the community for volunteer participation or funding support.
  • Provide leadership within the Board and in the community on behalf of the organization and its programs.
On-boardingOnce applicant has been approved to serve on the Caution for Kids Board of Directors, board members will complete a formal board orientation and will be placed with a veteran board mentor.
Additional InfoThe Committee will:
  • Identify potential individual donors and businesses who could potentially provide resources to Caution for Kids.
  • Create and organize various events to raise funds for the organization.
  •  Identify other fundraising opportunities available in the community and coordinate Caution for Kids’ presence or involvement.
  • Work with the Treasurer to ensure that processes are in place for donor recognition, IRS substantiation and categorized record keeping by source of income and donor.
  • Maintain records of where contacts have been made to avoid duplication of effort.
  • With support from the Board of Directors, annually submit objectives and a work plan for the committee as part of the planning and budgeting process.
Committee Members Responsibilities:
  • Attends via conference calls the meetings called by the Finance Director.
  • Reviews all financial reports in sufficient time to provide thoughtful feedback to the staff and committee regarding the organization’s financial position.
  • Monitor expenditures and income, usually through quarterly financial statements.
  • Monitor Caution for Kids investments.
  • Provide advice on financial management of the organization’s funds.
  • Ensure the preparation of an annual audit, tax form (990), and audited Financial statements.
