Our boardThe key role of the BAB is to work with the Executive Director of the Branch to provide input, support, and direction to drive the successful operation of the branch. Specific required activities include (but are not limited to):
PositionWorking with the Branch Executive Director and reporting to the Board of Directors of the Association, the Branch Advisory Board (BAB) provides input and direction as to the overall operation of the branch. The primary focus of the BAB is the effective operation of the branch in services to its constituents and pursuit of the Association’s goals and priorities. The Board also serves as the key relationship-builder for the branch in their community for contributions, volunteers and collaborations in support of the success of the branch.

Requirements1. Advise and provide counsel to the Branch Executive Director, as needed. 2. Develop and approve annual branch goals in support of the Association Strategic and Operational Plans. 3. Support the achievement of the annual branch budget and annual support campaign goal. 4. Review monthly branch financial, membership and operations results. 5. Ensure that the branch budget, policies, procedures and programs are consistent with the policies and objectives of the Association. 6. Recruit and recommend potential candidates to be considered for nomination to the Branch Advisory Board. 7. Engage in the review and selection process of the Branch Executive and key branch leaders as needed. 8. Be an active liaison with the community of stakeholders in the area served by the branch. This includes: businesses, elected officials, community partners, friends and neighbors. 9. Participate in a new Board Member orientation meeting.
Additional InfoA BAB member should have a strong interest in the advancement of the YMCA in their community. The expertise, skills and commitment of the volunteer BAB member should contribute to the positive direction of the branch in the community, through the successful presence of the YMCA. Examples of key skills sought after in BAB volunteers include: resource development, financial acumen, strategic planning, sales & marketing, community influence, facilities experience, understanding of key membership demographics and/or a passion for the mission of the YMCA. Personal attributes desired include the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and being a respected colleague and community member.
