Our missionThe mission of the Brown County Animal Shelter is to encourage and assist in the enforcement of all laws and ordinances for the protection of the community and for the prevention of cruelty to animals. We will be dedicated to establishing and maintaining an animal shelter and associated procedures which promote the health safety, care, handling and humane treatment for homeless pets in our community.

About usEstablished in 1976, the Brown County Humane Society (BCHS) is dedicated to the care and well-being of animals in Brown County, Ohio by improving the lives of all animals and educating our community about proper and responsible care. BCHS is committed to placing the animals that come in through cruelty, neglect, homelessness or owner surrenders into permanent, loving homes. Significant effort is directed to addressing dogs, cats and horses. However, other animal needs, such as sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, pigs, are also addressed by BCHS when issues of neglect or cruelty are reported.
