PositionReview ORF financials and review same with Executive Director. Review and approve any financial reports to board. Assist Executive Director and board with budget planning and financial planning (i.e., budget and investment strategies, etc.).

RequirementsBOARD RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure fiscally sound programs and operations that are consistent with ORF’s mission, by providing oversight, leadership, strategic counsel, and direction to the Executive Director, staff and volunteers of the organization. This includes: •Developing and overseeing the governing policies and procedures of the organization. •Guiding the strategic priorities of the organization and its programs. •Reviewing ORF’s fiscal health, and working with the Executive Director to help ensure a financially sustainable future. •Managing performance reviews, compensation and benefits for the Executive Director, and guiding Executive Director decision making about staff performance, compensation, and benefits. •Helping to build membership and contributions. •Helping to build public visibility for the organization and its work. DUTIES: •Make a personal financial contribution to the organization. •Participate in regular and special Board meetings (approx. 5 per year, 2-3 hours each). •Prepare for each Board meeting by reading material distributed prior to the meeting. •If they are formed, serve and actively participate on at least one committee. •Maintain knowledge of current organization programs and staff. •Work with the Executive Director to identify and assist with fundraising opportunities (e.g., contacts for financial support and in-kind contributions, helping with solicitations). •Work with the Executive Director to identify and solicit additional Board members. •Serve as an advocate of the organization to various constituent groups. •Be accessible, at least by phone and email, to the Executive Director, staff, and other Board members. •Fulfill commitments within any applicable or agreed deadlines. •Be loyal to the organization and hold in confidence any information given to Board.
