Board Secretary

Our boardThe Board of Directors shall have general supervision and charge of the property, affairs, and finances of the Corporation. The number of Directors shall be fixed from time to time by the Directors but shall be no fewer than three (3).  The Board of Directors shall elect a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer, and may elect such other officers from time to time as the Board of Directors may deem necessary or desirable.The board of directors is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the organization. To that end it:
  1. Determines how the organization will carry out its mission through long and short-range planning
  2. Provides fiscal oversight
  3. Recruits, orients, and develops board members
  4. Establishes policies for the effective management of the organization
President (Mark Walker) - The President shall preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors and of the Executive Committee, if any. The President shall have general supervision over the affairs of the Corporation. The President or the Vice President may execute all authorized documents, contracts, and obligations in the name of the Corporation and shall have such other authority and shall perform such other duties as may be determined by the Board of Directors.Vice President (Dale Maloney) - The Vice President shall, should the President be absent or unavailable, exercise the authority of the President. The President or the Vice President may execute all authorized documents, contracts, and obligations in the name of the Corporation and shall have such other authority and shall perform such other duties as may be determined by the Board of Directors.Secretary (VACANT) - The Secretary provides administrative and clerical support to the Board, through the timely and accurate collection and sharing of information directly related to its activities. The Secretary ensures that the Board is well informed and that its activities are well documented for the use of Board members, the Governance Committee and relevant government bodies.Treasurer (Dynette Clark) - The board treasurer is an executive and voting member of the board of directors. The Treasurer reports to the Board the ongoing financial viability and stability of the Association while monitoring the financial information. The Treasurer creates and oversees the Governance Budget.General Board Member / Chief Volunteer Officer (Eric Denson) -  Responsible for recruiting and managing groups of volunteers, as well as individual members of a volunteer organization. Must coordinate and schedule volunteers on an ongoing basis or organize single events. Volunteer coordinators must also keep existing volunteers informed via newsletters or other communications.General Board Member / Chief Family Advocate (Brian Paxton) - Responsible for being the voice of the families we serve. The Chief Family Advocate ensures that ever thing we do is in the best interest of families we serve.General Board Member / Chief Marketing Officer (VACANT) -  Responsible for creating innovative marketing strategies that will build our brand, leading to increased awareness, fundraising revenue, relevance and respect among our target audience.General Board Member / Chief Fundraising and Development Officer (VACANT) - Lead the fund development program including but not limited to assisting the President in engaging with major donors; managing a portfolio of; regularly engaging donors, churches, foundations, and supporters; and drafting and executing the annual development plan.

Responsibilities:
  • Understand and promote the organization’s mission
  • Be familiar with the organization’s programs, policies, and operations
  • Attend board meetings and appropriate committee meetings
  • Review agenda and supporting documents prior to meetings
  • Make an annual contribution to the organization commensurate with ability
  • Participate in fund raising activities and special events
On-boardingThe Board of Directors shall elect a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer, and may elect such other officers from time to time as the Board of Directors may deem necessary or desirable.  Any two or more offices may be held by the same person, but no officer shall execute, acknowledge, or verify any instrument in more than one capacity, if the instrument is required to be executed, acknowledged, or verified by two or more officers.
Our missionAwesome Fathers Taking Roles (AFTR) is a non-profit organization that educates fathers and male role models in the homes of children with special needs.
