Board Member – Volunteer/Outreach

Our boardImpact 100 empowers women to dramatically improve lives by collectively funding significant grants that make a lasting impact in our community. Members join Impact 100 at $500 or $1,000 each, 100% of which is pooled together to make grants of $100,000 to local tristate nonprofit organizations.The Impact 100 Board of Directors is a working and governing board of the Impact 100 women's collective giving grantmaking network. It is through our Board of Directors that all programming, financial oversight, grant review, events, membership drives, recruiting efforts, marketing, PR, and social media are led by women ranging from 25 to 70 years old. Board terms are 3 years.
PositionThe Membership Chair is part of the Membership & Recruiting Cluster.  She strengthens the Impact 100 Membership experience through events and communications that help members feel informed, engaged, involved and valued throughout the year.  Membership establishes and implements the Member On-Boarding process and monitors results of these efforts, including retention surveys.  This includes analysis and development of next steps resulting from the Member Satisfaction Survey.  Membership strives to engage member so that a high retention rate is achieved.The Membership Chair works in close cooperation with the Recruiting Chairs, Communications and Association Connection.

DonationWe require a specific amount of “give or get” for all board members.
RequirementsImpact 100 Board members must be current members, or be willing to become a member at the start of their board term. Future board members meet 1:1 with our nominating chair to discuss interests and skills as well as future openings on the Board of Directors. Board of Directors are asked to attend 80% of monthly board meetings and signature events. Each Director has a specific job description from which they execute their responsibilities (the "working" part of the board) as well as their governing role.
On-boardingAll future board members "shadow" her predecessor for approximately 3 months before stepping into their role. This includes attendance at a board meeting, a Board Orientation, and meetings with her predecessor prior to beginning the role officially in January of any given calendar year.
Additional InfoResponsibilities:
  • Develop overall calendar for membership events and communications throughout the year in cooperation with Recruiting and Communications. Membership events may change from year to year.
  • Help Membership Co-Chair plan and execute Member Engagement Events throughout the year (Examples include New Member Welcome, EDU Event, Appreciation Events).
  • Participate in Board strategic planning.
  • Create and execute New Member Strategy.
  • Plan monthly Membership communication for newsletter.
  • Facilitate individual, personalized communication to members where appropriate.
  • Work with Recruiting to review attrition and retention and develop long-term strategies to address results.
  • Develop and execute a Membership Renewal Plan; leveraging the Annual Awards Celebration.
  • Update Business Plan as needed and identify new goals – short and long term.
  • Communicate with individual members and Association Connection as needs arise.
