Board Member – Fundraising

Our boardOhio Valley Voices 16-member Board of Trustees is a working board with an overall fiduciary and strategic responsibility for Ohio Valley Voices.Board members are selected based on the following:  Senior level executive, with the ability to align individual organizational resources to meet OVV goals  Respected community leader, with the ability to cultivate, inspire, and influence other leaders in their sector to align resources and efforts  Visionary yet practical leader that will move our efforts from concept to actionBoard Terms of Service & Expectations: • Board members serve three-year terms with the ability to renew by vote after three years. • Annually, Board Members will complete a self-assessment on participation and engagement with OVV and they will request feedback from the OVV Governance Committee for evaluation efforts.Our expectation of the Board of Trustees is to: • Provide strategic guidance on issues critical to improving services/programs in our region based on their experience, expertise and perspective. • Approve OVV decisions, seeking feedback from our Governance, Development, Finance, Investment and Building and Grounds Committees as well as other sector representing entities. • Provide fiduciary and strategic oversight over OVVs programmatic efforts. • Serve on one of our OVV Board Committees including: Governance, Development, Finance, Investment and our Building and Grounds with related community engagement activities. • Communicate with other members to ensure effective information flow and strong engagement on matters related to OVV. • Proactively solicit input, seek feedback, and update other organizations within their committees. • Disclose differences of opinion or disagreements within their committees on decisions to the Board of Trustees. • Disclose any substantive or perceived conflicts of interests as it relates to committee or activities effecting decisions and/or OVV. • All trustees are expected to attend and otherwise support fundraising events and activities supporting the work of OVV.OVV will always strive for ethnic, gender, political and age diversity to ensure diverse perspectives are represented on the board. For this round of board recruitment, we are seeking nominations from individuals with the following characteristics: • Ethnically diverse senior level exec and/or respected community leaders, with the ability to cultivate/influence/inspire other leaders in their sector • Visionary yet practical leader • Willingness to connect his or her contacts and resources to the needs of OVV • Support fundraising events and help to raise the visibility of OVV programs and outcomesThe Board membership will be comprised of the following expertise, knowledge and background as key to the success of the board:  Health Care  Financial  Marketing/PR  Education  Construction/Architectural  Risk Management  Philanthropy  Brand Management  Community Leadership  Strategic Planning  Fundraising
PositionDevelopment and Marketing CommitteeSection 3.13. Development and Marketing Committee. The Development and Marketing Committee shall be composed of not fewer than one (1) Trustee appointed by the President of the Board of Trustees. The Committee shall work with the Corporation to develop the brand and image of the Corporation, raise funds, and hold events to build awareness for the CorporationThe Development and Marketing Committee will set fundraising and marketing goals, establish strategies for successfully raising funds recruit and assign volunteers needed in the process, monitor the success of fundraising activities throughout the year and request Board assistance as needed. The Committee will help staff in developing a strategic plan for fund raising and for marketing Ohio Valley Voices to the community and keep the Board informed on the progress of the strategic plan. The Committee educates the board about marketing and development issues. Identifies and cultivates donors and assists with donor solicitation and appreciation.
