Board Member – Finance

Our boardThe Board of Directors is the governing body of Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship. Directors are responsible for overseeing the organization's activities.Fiduciary duties of the board include: Duty of care, duty of loyalty, duty of obedience and duty of confidentiality.The Executive Director manages the day-to-day operations of Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship and reports to the Executive Committee.
PositionThe Finance & Investment Committee represents and assists the Board of Directors in: 1. Overseeing the integrity of the organization's financial statements 2. Selection of financial advisers, accountants and other industry professionals 3. Performance of the internal annual audit and selection of audit firm 4. Disclosure controls and procedures and internal controls over financial reporting 5. Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements relating to accounting and financial reporting matters 6. Risk assessment and management and financial policies and proceduresThe Finance & Investment Committee will report regularly to the Board of Directors regarding its execution of its duties and responsibilities.

RequirementsResponsibilities of Board of Directors include: 1. Be informed about the organization's mission, services, therapies, programs and policies. Keep up-to-date on developments in the organization's field. 2. Advocate and network on behalf of the organization. 3. Attend, actively participate in and prepare for all board meetings. Review agenda and supporting documents prior to meetings. (One board meeting may be missed for an unavoidable conflict.) 4. Join one or more board committee(s)/task force(s) and actively participate in committee/task force meetings and responsibilities. 5. Make a philanthropic contribution to the organization. While there is not a required minimum contribution to serve the the board, Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship does ask that we are one of your top three philanthropic beneficiaries. 6. Support and attend 75 percent of the organization's special events (number of events varies). 7. Suggest possible board nominees who may make significant contributions to the work of the board and the organization. 8. Maintain fiduciary responsibilities of the board. 9. Follow conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies. 10. Refrain from making special requests of the staff.
