Board Member

Our boardThe Cincinnati Boychoir is one of the premiere professional boychoirs in the United States. Founded in 1965 and located in the urban arts core of Cincinnati at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, the Boychoir reaches approximately 200 young men each year from more than 90 schools in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. We offer programs in the vocal arts for boys in grades 3-12 from all over the Cincinnati region, with emphasis on artistry, personal growth, community engagement and cultural appreciation. The Board of Trustees at the Cincinnati Boychoir is a volunteer governing board that is currently made up of fifteen trustees and two ex-officio members representing several industries spanning financial, real estate, marketing, and research and development. Meetings occur monthly, and are currently conducted online.Core board committees include Executive, Finance, and Development. Committees that meet on a less frequent basis, or as-needed, include Program, Nominating, Fundraising, Personnel, and Governance. Our current board demographic make-up includes four African American, one Hispanic with the balance being Caucasian. We have eleven women and six men. Ages of current board members range from 30-65, and includes one Boychoir alumnus and four former Boychoir parents. Tenure of current trustees ranges from fifteen years to less than one year.
PositionThe Cincinnati Boychoir seeks new members to join our Board of Trustees who would like in on some hands-on community building, as we launch a new strategic initiative known as Project 52.Project 52 is designed to deepen relationships in our community by bringing Boychoir activities closer to the neighborhoods that we serve, while also raising funds to send local neighborhood boys to Boychoir who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity. We have received grant dollars that, if matched by the local neighborhoods, will pay for a boy to participate in Boychoir, all expenses paid, for two years. We work with the local community council, school and faith leaders, and interested residents, to identify ways that Boychoir can better serve their neighborhood, and also to raise those matching funds in the neighborhood and to nominate a boy (or boys) to participate. Our goals are to showcase local talent, raise awareness and enrollment for Boychoir, and help us to better represent the communities we serve. We already have matching funds raised and ready to award to neighborhoods who would like to participate. We are looking for board members who will make community connections, champion our program, arrange meetings with Boychoir and neighborhood leaders, and help us to monitor progress and nurture our ongoing relationships in these neighborhoods.Seeking: Committee Chair, Committee Members
