Connect Clermont Board of Directors

The Board of Connect Clermont will be the governing body with authority and legal responsibility for decisions made on behalf of the organization and will have responsibility for setting policy, establishing the direction of the organization and annual goals. The Board of Connect Clermont is also responsible for assuring the organization has the resources necessary to carry out its mission. Board members will serve a 3-year term renewable for up to 3 consecutive terms.The Board of Directors brings the experience, interest and ability to:
  1. Secure resources to carry out the mission of Connect Clermont
  2. Provide financial oversight
  3. Implement effective board governance practices
  4. Provide ongoing strategic and generative direction for the organization as a whole

Connect Clermont Action Teams

Action Teams will provide leadership to specific goal areas of the Agenda for the Future. Action Team members will provide expertise and influence, and will develop strategies to advance the goals and achieve the charge of each Action Team.  Action Teams focus on the theme areas of Jobs, Education, Health, and Vibrancy.

RequirementsThe Board of Directors will Lead, Support, Serve, Plan and Advocate.Lead: The Board of Directors governs by setting policy and by overseeing finances, operations, development and public relations. In order to effectively carry out these responsibilities, each board member is expected to have a strong understanding of the organization, including the clients we serve, our programs and our targeted outcomes by:
  • Participating in at least one activity supported by Connect Clermont each year.
  • Reading and monitoring Connect Clermont Activities by subscribing to Cerkl newsletter.
  • Reading and monitoring reports as issued by Connect Clermont.
Support: The Board of Directors is responsible for securing the resources necessary to carry out the mission of the organization. Annually, each board member is expected to:
  • Assist with fundraising by making face-to-face asks
  • Support the organization's fundraising events
Serve: The vitality and strength of the organization and the Board of Directors is dependent on board leadership and commitment. Each member should be prepared to:
  • Complete a three-year renewable term of service
  • Serve as an officer or chair a standing committee or task force
  • Participate in the identification and recruitment of new board members
Plan: The board is responsible for governance of the organization and for setting the strategic direction of the organization. Each member should:
  • Attend at least 75% of scheduled board and appointed committee meetings
  • Actively engage in discussions regarding goals, course, and direction of the organization
  • Contribute knowledge of the community, political climate, and economic forecast for the good of the organization and clients it serves
Advocate: Each board member is an ambassador to the community for Connect Clermont and the County as a whole. Each member should be prepared to:
  • Represent the organization as a public speaker to potential supporters
  • Share program successes with friends, business contacts, civic clubs, and other potential supporters
