Our boardWith over 40 years of experience serving 20,000 children and adults in 12 counties in Southern Ohio annually and a $20 million budget, Child Focus desires dynamic, aligned and well-engaged board members to oversee its non-profit organization. Our desired diverse board composition is 13-15 and includes individuals with finance, marketing, fundraising, legal, education, mental health, law enforcement, IT and consumer backgrounds.

RequirementsThe Board is responsible for duty of care, obedience and promotion: Duty of care provides oversight to ensure prudent use of all assets, including facilities, people and good will. Duty of loyalty ensures activities are first and foremost advancing its mission, recognizing and disclosing conflicts of interest, and always making decisions that are in the best interest of Child Focus. Duty of obedience ensures that Child Focus obeys all applicable Federal. State and local laws, regulations, its by-laws and adheres to its stated mission. Duty of promotions works to enhance Child Focus’ reputation, increase its capacity to serve others through charitable giving and attend and support organizational events and initiatives.
On-boardingChild Focus has an onboarding process that includes meeting with the CEO and Board Chair, attending a board meeting and receiving pertinent agency and by-law information. Board members are assigned to a committee: Early Learning, Behavioral health, HR, Marketing/Development, Compliance and Finance.Two hour monthly board meetings with an additional hour of reviewing information, participation at our annual dinner and golf outing and efforts in advocacy/outreach, strategic planning, philanthropy, participation in site and accreditation visits and reviews as necessary average to be four hours monthly.
