| Our board | The Founding Board of the Loveland Initiative formed over 20 years ago on the principal that every single member of our community, no matter their community standing, wealth, education, or life circumstances has valuable ASSETS they can bring to the table in solving their community's problems and meeting a community's needs. The organization focuses its attention through a wide variety of programs to help lower income residents meet basic needs along with educational enrichment. The Board Consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Director that provide strategic oversight of the organization, with a mission to provide educational support and assistance to under-served children and their families. The organization holds a Tax-Exempt status under Section 501 (c)(3) of the IRS Code. |

| Position | The board of trustees is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the organization.1. Determines how the organization will carry out its mission through long and short-range planning 2. Approves an annual budget and provides fiscal oversight 3. Recruits, orients, and develops board members 4. Hires and evaluates the performance of the executive director 5. Evaluates its performance and overall performance of the organization in achieving the mission 6. Establishes policies for the effective management of the organization 7. Developing an annual and 3-year strategic plan governing the activities and goals of the organization. 8. Raising funds and resources necessary to meet the goals of the organization. 9. Make financial decisions; and 10. Publically representing the organization in accordance with the mission and vision. |

| Requirements | Board members are required to: 1. Meet the 3rd Thursday of every month, except July and December; 2. Attend 8 Board meetings per year; 3. Be active with projects, programs, and fundraising; and 4. | On-boarding | Orientation is the process of educating board members about their roles, responsibilities, the organization, and how the board works. A thorough orientation gets a new board member engaged quickly and off to a running start. The President conducts the orientation. Required board training will be held one week prior to the member’s “initial” meeting. All Board members are required to complete orientation. |
