Our boardThe composition of MUSE's board of directors includes singing choir members and at-large members from the community. As a board, we meet on a monthly basis; we also attend our respective committee meetings (one primary and one secondary), choir performances and fundraising events. Serving on this board requires supporting our mission, a passion to serve and skill sets that can make an impact. PositionBoard members are the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.

DonationWe strive for 100% board giving, but have no strict guidelines around financial contributions.
RequirementsAct in keeping with and to promote MUSE's mission. Board members commit to attending monthly board and committee meetings. This includes one primary committee, and one secondary committee. They agree to donate to MUSE (“in kind” or with money), represent MUSE positively in the community, and attend at least one concert per year.
On-boardingBoard elections take place in the spring each year. Members are elected to two-year terms (e.g., 2023-2025) that start no later than July 20. Onboarding activities at-large are led by the board's Nominating and Governance Committee, including a review of the New Member Handbook, training (webinars, guides), and communication resources (e.g., Google Suite, Slack) and committee onboarding is led by committee chairs or co-chairs.
Additional InfoThe MUSE Board of Directors governs the strategic operations of MUSE and makes critical decisions for the organization. The board is responsible for hiring the Music Director and other key contractors. The board manages the fiscal affairs of the choir. They are advised by the Heart (leadership of the four MUSE circles: Musical Excellence, Social Justice, Operations, and Membership).
