Board Member

Our board
  • A Director must exhibit an interest in the Coalition's concerns, goals, mission, and vision.
  • The Board of Directors shall comprise of no less than 8 Directors and no more than 17 at any time.
  • Each Director shall hold the office for a term of 3 years; and shall no serve mo more than two consecutive terms.
  • The Board of Directors meet four times per year.  Each Director serves on a standing committee as agreed upon by the Chairman of the Board.
  • The Board of Directors currently function as an advisory board.
PositionWhile day-to-day operations are led by SBCC's Executive Director, the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific board member responsibilities include:
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the ED she develops and implements SBCC’s strategic plan
  • Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
  • Approving SBCC’s annual budget, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Assisting the ED and board chair in identifying and recruiting other board members
  • Partnering with the ED and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
  • Representing SBCC to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization

DonationWe strive for 100% board giving, but have no strict guidelines around financial contributions.
RequirementsMembers must attend 50% of all regularly scheduled meetings. Members are encouraged to attend all fundraising events, social events, and other activities of the Coalition. All members are covered by "Officers and Director's" liability insurance.
