Position | Marjorie Book Continuing Education Board members play a vital role in providing oversight of the organization’s program, publicity and finances. Marjorie Book appreciates the important work in which its Board members engage.Duties:Each member of the Marjorie Book Board of Directors will:· Attend the majority of board meetings (more than 50%) each year. Meetings are typically held by phone seven times per year and twice a year in person. The President shall be responsible for planning and facilitating the board meetings with input from the Executive Director. The Vice President will run the meetings when the President is unavailable. The Secretary will take and distribute minutes electronically. The Treasurer will collaborate with the Executive Director to prepare an updated financial report for review at each board meeting.· Be familiar with, support and promote the mission statement and the by-laws of Marjorie Book Continuing Education. The Secretary will insure that the board members have the most current information.· Maintain communication with the Board President, Executive Director and other board members.· Attend at least one Marjorie Book fundraising event each year.· Attend at least two Marjorie Book program events each year, one of which should be a non-theater event.· Serve on an ad-hoc committee as deemed necessary to accomplish the annual goals of the Board.· Maintain oversight of the Executive Director. This oversight includes selecting, compensating, and if necessary termination of the Executive Director.· Evaluate the Marjorie Book programs, goals and annual calendar as set by Executive Director.· Maintain oversight of the organization finances. This oversight includes reviewing and approving an annual budget, overseeing adherence to it and prioritizing expenses when the entire budget is unavailable. |
