Free legal and long-term care information, advice, and referral are provided by toll-free telephone. In southwest Ohio, staff attorneys and long-term care ombudsmen help seniors and their families resolve their legal and long-term care problems. Pro Seniors’ typical client is a female over the age of 75 whose income is at the poverty level. Approximately one-third of Pro Seniors’ clients are members of a minority group. Board Description Formatted Board Requirements Visual Text Pro Seniors’ Board of Trustees meets six times a year, with meetings at 8:30 a.m. on the fourth Friday of February, April, June, August and October. The December meeting usually is earlier because of the holidays. The meetings are held at Pro Seniors. Board members also participate in a Board committee that meets five or six times a year, usually in the same month as the Board meeting. Our Client Services Committee focuses on oversight and planning of Pro Seniors’ programs, such as legal services and the ombudsman program. This committee meets at Pro Seniors at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday mornings. The Finance & Administration Committee oversees financial issues for Pro Seniors, as well as administrative matters. This committee meets at 8:30 a.m. on Friday mornings at Pro Seniors. The Resource Development committee works on fundraising and development for Pro Seniors. The committee usually meets at 8:30 a.m. at Pro Seniors. The dates for the meetings are not on a regular schedule. The Leadership Development committee usually meets for just part of the year (typically December or January through April) and focuses on recruiting new Board members. Members of this committee also serve on another committee. We ask our Board members to provide a list of friends, family and/or colleagues each fall for our Friends of the Board Annual Fund campaign. The Board members sign a personalized letter requesting a gift to Pro Seniors. Pro Seniors also asks that our Board members make a gift to the Annual Fund, with no minimum amount specified. We ask that Board members consider making Pro Seniors one of their top three charitable gifts. Pro Seniors sponsors an annual fundraising event. Board members are asked to attend the event and encourage others to attend, as well as to work on obtaining sponsorships.
