Our sliding scale <strong><a href="http://peasleecenter.org/piano/">piano program</a></strong> offers quality musical education to low-income families, and partnering with Rothenberg Elementary School, our <strong><a href="http://peasleecenter.org/girls-writing-circles/">writing circles</a></strong> teach young girls to creatively express themselves and harness the power and agency of their own voice. Currently, the board meets for 1.5 hours on a monthly basis. There is also an annual retreat that typically lasts for 4 hours on a date agreed by the board.</li> <li>Makes serious commitment to participate actively in committee work.</li> <li>Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time.</li> <li>Stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.</li> <li>Gets to know other committee members and builds a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus.</li> <li>Is an active participant in the committee's annual evaluation and planning efforts.</li> <li>Participates in fund raising for the organization</li> </ul> <em><strong>Committee Requirements</strong></em> <ul> <li>Chartered by Board</li> <li>Provide additional capability (expertise) and resource capacity to staff in developing and implementing strategies and action plans within the scope of the committee’s charter</li> <li>Recommends actions and policies for approval by the Board</li> <li>Activities are facilitated by a committee chair (Board or staff member) appointed by Board</li> <li>Membership includes both staff and Board members.
