Previous experience with other non-profit boards and organizations (non-profit and/or membership organizations in particular) would be deemed a valuable asset in a candidate. We are seeking individuals who have local, regional or statewide board experience, have strong ties with communities, and recognize how essential OAESV is in assisting and supporting Ohio’s rape crisis centers and the survivors whom they serve. In addition, we seek to expand the Board to more accurately reflect the ethnic, geographic, and generational diversity of Ohio. Board Description Formatted Board Requirements Board Member’s duties include, but are not limited to: <ul> <li>Responsibility of directing the organization’s financial development, public policy, and fiscal oversight, which helps to ensure the continued success of OAESV</li> <li>Receive and act on reports from committees of the Board</li> <li>Ensure OAESV is able to carry out the goals and objectives established in its strategic plan</li> <li>Approve, support, and set policies governing any solicitation of funds in the name of OAESV</li> <li>Assume responsibility and direction for the financial operation of OAESV, including approval of the annual budget</li> <li>Engage in fundraising for OAESV</li> <li>Ensure all affairs of OAESV are conducted in compliance with federal, state and local laws</li> <li>Join as an individual member of OAESV & the make an annual, individual contribution of $700.00 (excluding fundraising and donation solicitations)</li> <li>Any and all other duties consistent with the purpose and mission of OAESV</li> </ul> <u>Time Commitment</u> Board members will be expected to serve for a minimum period of 2 years and can expect to give an average of 8-10 hours a month of their time participating in board meetings, committee meetings, travel and fundraising. Meetings take place either in person (typically in either Columbus or Cleveland), or via teleconference. <ul> <li>At a minimum, the OAESV Board has four regularly scheduled, quarterly board meetings, three are in person and one is via video conference. In addition, there is an annual video conference with OAESV’s auditors. It is required that board members be present for at least 75% of regularly scheduled quarterly board meetings per year.</li> <li>Committee work typically involves one telephone meeting per month, plus the completion of any tasks supporting that committee’s purpose.</li> </ul> Board Requirements Formatted Onboarding Onboarding will be completed over the course of May-July, with orientation in late June/early July, and first board meeting for new members in July.
