Operating within the framework of best practices known as LLS Platinum Board, Trustees work closely with the chapter Executive Director and other staff to ensure the revenue goals of the chapter are met. · Purpose As part of a mission centric, locally delivered and nationally powered organization, this role reporting to the Chair of the Board of Trustees (BOT) and the Executive Director, Trustees are volunteers whose primary purpose is to work closely with the chapter Executive Director and Board Executive Committee to assist the chapter in achieving its revenue and mission-oriented goals. Board of Trustees members understand and support the LLS mission, and are familiar with LLS revenue generation, patient services and advocacy programs. Relentlessly pursuing cancer cures. · Position Tasks The outcomes of this role serve our mission work and will require the volunteer to perform the following: o Be an active, contributing member of the BOT, including attending at least three BOT meetings and the annual retreat, as well as attending a minimum of two chapter fundraising events and one mission (Patient Services or Advocacy) program annually o Consider LLS in their top three charities of choice o Serve as a key member on at least one fundraising and/or mission committee within the fiscal year to strengthen our committees through volunteer engagement and direct participation o Serve as an effective public relations agent who promotes LLS in daily activities and serves as a goodwill ambassador for LLS o Help to ensure the chapter budget is met or exceeded, allowing the public funds generated to be maximized for LLS goals o Identify, cultivate and recruit prospective BOT and committee members o Make a meaningful annual financial contribution to the chapter (contribution is expected to be separate from event contributions) o Engage your network to generate financial support for the chapter by identifying and recruiting donors, corporations and individuals to participate in events, corporate sponsorships and/or in-kind contributions and matching gifts o Serve as a liaison between supporters, event participants, volunteers and chapter staff to support continuous improvement o Advocate for patients at the state and federal levels o Understand and fully support the mission, policies and position of LLS · LLS Volunteer Manager Formatted Board Requirements Visual Text Board Requirements Volunteer should possess the following skills/qualifications: o Has a shared vision with the ED that drives toward fundraising and community-building goals, and is able to communicate that vision and inspire other BOT members o Understands the local community and works with the Development Committee to diversify the board to reflect that community o Strong connection to, or belief in, the LLS mission o Business or community leader who demonstrates a strong network o History of fundraising on board with other nonprofit organizations o History of high-impact fundraising/giving with LLS core campaigns o History of leadership positions in LLS core campaigns § Example: Corporate Walk Chair, Executive Leadership Chair, TNT League Chair o Measurable impact or contribution to LLS over volunteer’s tenure o History of sharing the LLS mission, vision and accomplishments with their network through influence and access o Active engagement and attendance at LLS events § Example: MWOY, Light the Night, etc. o Demonstrated leadership skills and competencies o Senior-level management preferred · Shift Times Approximately 2-5 hours per month, including time spent networking and sharing the LLS opportunity, attending a quarterly Trustee meeting, an annual retreat and also typically represents the Board of Trustees at a variety of campaign events. A trustee is eligible for election for one additional consecutive three-year term. No trustee may serve more than two consecutive three-year terms without rotating off the BOT for one year. At the end of such one year period, former trustee is then eligible to be considered for election to the BOT for a maximum of one more three-year term.
