While singing and music understanding is the focus, the boys also learn about cultures throughout the Cincinnati area and tour to other places in the US and Internationally. Every few years the focus of the cultural learning changes. The Cincy Boychoir is currently learning and immersing themselves in the Hispanic cultures. The organization Mission is: - The Cincinnati Boychoir provides exceptional concert opportunities and music education in a safe, diverse, and respectful environment. The board works with the staff of the Boychoir organization to set a 3-5 year strategy. With the strategy set, the board works on enabling the strategy with work through committees like Finance, Development, Fundraising, Governance, etc. The committee work is varied, dependent on the needs against the strategy. Our current board needs are: Fundraising and Marketing Formatted Board Requirements Board Requirements It is important for the Cincinnati Boychoir board to be involved with the organization beyond attending meetings and concerts. The engagement areas are below. Members of the Cincinnati Boychoir board are expected to make a significant financial contribution to the Cincinnati Boychoir’s Annual Fund. While significant will mean something different for everyone, we expect the Boychoir to receive primary consideration when you determine your annual budget for philanthropic giving. Expectations and Engagement Engagement: As a member of the board, I will Attend as many of the concerts as I can (at least 2 each year) Attend at least one regular rehearsal of the Boychoir. Serve on at least one Board committee. Attend at least 80% of the board meetings each year. Engage my professional and social contacts by bringing them to a concert and other events. Expectations: I take responsibility to know as much as possible about the work of the Cincinnati Boychoir, its vision and its future. I will make decisions for the organization based on its mission. I will attend a minimum of 80% of yearly board meetings. I will study all reports and participate in board work electronically head of each meeting. I have read and understand the bylaws and articles of incorporation. I will be sure that the organization adheres to its own regulations and policies and acts within the law. I will be and enthusiastic booster and a positive advocate for the organization. I, along with other board members, am responsible for the development of sponsors, friendraising and fundraising for the Cincinnati Boychoir. I, along with other board members, am responsible for the financial health and stability of the Cincinnati Boychoir. Formatted Onboarding Onboarding Each board member will be given a handbook of information about the organization, the board and the current season schedule. Prior to becoming a board member, the candidate is offered conversations with board members and tour of the organization often including a concert or rehearsal. The new board member is participating in board meetings right away and usually commits to a board committee by third meeting. The committees include Executive, Finance, Program, Development, Fundraising, Nomination/Personnel and Governance.
