The Board is also responsible for the well-being of its assets. The Board is responsible for hiring the Director of the museum, and delegates the day-to-day business and artistic management of the organization, and reviews the Director's performance annually. Formatted Board Requirements Board Requirements -Attend, at a minimum, 75% of Board meetings each year. -Participate actively on at least one Committee of the Board. -Each Trustee is to attend, at a minimum, 75% of the meetings held by the Committee which they are a member of. -Be accessible and know the institution's shareholders, donors, and volunteers by attending the 1) Annual meeting of the Shareholders, and 2) Founders Society Reception and Dinners. -Invest in membership in the Founders Society Director's Circle level donor or above ($10,000+) of the Art Museum through annual personal or corporate giving. -Commit to any endowment or funding drive that the museum may mount, and provide assistance through solicitations, etc., to such drives. -Be an enthusiastic advocate, dedicated to building a broad base of interest in, respect for, and financial support of the Art Museum. -Respect the confidentiality of Board materials and discussions. -Support the annual ArtsWave campaign, which supports the Cincinnati Art Museum. Formatted Onboarding Onboarding The Nominating Committee vets candidates during their meetings. The committee formally approves the slate of candidates to join the Board then the Director meets with each to confirm their interest in joining the Board of Trustees. At that meeting they are provided with a packet of materials relating to the Board – responsibilities, membership info, etc. and are explained the process in which they are elected at the Shareholder meeting. Following that, a second meeting is set up with the Board President for the official ask to join our Board. Once approved, their name is added to our slate to be presented to the Board prior to the Annual Shareholder Meeting. The candidates are officially elected at the Annual Shareholder Meeting in May by the Shareholders, and begin their service at the start of the new fiscal year in September. Once they begin as a Trustee they attend a New Trustee Orientation and are also assigned a Board mentor by the Nominating Committee to welcome them and answer any questions they have pertaining to the Board of Trustees.
